Russell F. Buchholz, of Weyauwega passed away at his home on Oct. 15, 2013, at the age of 86, with his wife Dorothy and family members present.
Russell was born May 7, 1927, in the Town of Weyauwega in Waupaca County to Frederick and Ella (Zabel) Buchholz. He was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. Peter’s Lutheran Evangelical Lutheran Church in Weyauwega where he was a lifetime member. He graduated from Weyauwega High School as valedictorian of the class of 1945. He married Dorothy Genske on December 6, 1952. He was employed as a bulk semi driver for Kampo Transit and Schneider Tank Lines in Neenah until his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, flying, playing cards, watching the Packers, Wisconsin sports, and playing dartball.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy, and five children: James (Esther) Buchholz and Brian (Judy) Buchholz of Weyauwega; Susan (Rory) Borchardt of Fremont; Sally Buchholz of Omaha, Nebraska; William (Barb) Buchholz of Greenville; grandchildren: Matthew Buchholz, Michael (Jennifer) Buchholz, Andrew (Sara) Buchholz, Wendy (Ross) Schlomann, Tyler (Meg) Buchholz, Sarah Bowe; his sister Marjorie Buchholz of Waupaca, sister-in-law Joyce Genske; a great-granddaughter Hailey Buchholz; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Orville Buchholz and his wife Evelyn; sister Elaine and her husband Raymond Spiegelberg; sister Myrna Jean Buchholz; his In-Laws John and Blanche Genske; his brothers-in-law John, William, and Louis Genske; and grandson Eric Buchholz.
A memorial service for Russell will be held at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Weyauwega, on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Newlin Schafer and Rev. Dennis Lemke officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Weyauwega. A visitation for Russell will be held directly at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
