Hill, Dorothy Mae

Dorothy Mae Hill, Waupaca, WI, age 87, died on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at her residence.

She was born on March 3, 1926 in Green Bay, WI, the daughter of Fred DeVorse and Irene (Brigulet) Kazmaier. She married Arthur E. Hill on August 19, 1944 in Milwaukee, WI. He preceded her in death on February 4, 2006.

Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Sandra Hill-Diggles of Reedsburg, and Diane (Dave) Neelis of Waupaca; three sons: Arthur E. (Christy) Hill, Jr of Waupaca, Gary (Loretta) Hill of Plainfield, and Lorne (Kate) Hill of Fond du Lac; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a great great grandson. She is further survived by a brother: Lee DeVorse of Las Vegas, NV; a half-brother: Kenneth Kazmaier of Green Bay and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Art; her father and mother; brothers: Earl, Wayne, Orville, Lyle and Fred DeVorse, Jr, and sisters: Charlotte Kosbab, Beverly DeVorse, and Connie Haines.

Dorothy had been employed in an ammunition factory in Milwaukee prior to her marriage to Art. After their marriage she was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a very active member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Waupaca having served as head of the funeral luncheon group for many years, and with the St. Katherine Guild in sewing baptismal gowns until just recently when she was forced to stop due to her illness. She had been a D.A.V. Auxiliary volunteer as well as volunteering at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King for many years.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Waupaca, WI on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 10:30 AM, with the Reverends Father Amalraj Roche and Father Paul Vanden Hogen, Concelebrants. Interment will be in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI. A visitation will be held at the church on Monday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 AM. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
