Waupaca, Weyauwega-Fremont and Iola-Scandinavia’s cross country teams turned up for conference and sectional meets Oct. 10 at the Don Chase Relays in Weyauwega.
The Waupaca, I-S and W-F boys placed first, ninth and 11th, respectively, while the girls finished third, fourth and 10th.
Waupaca had a pair of top-10 finishes in Mitchell Rotta and Parker Sweeney to win the boys’ title. Rotta turned in a time of 17:25 to place second, while Sweeney was 10th in 18:07. Other times and places for the Comets were Ryan Weise (13th, 18:21); Hunter Smith (14th, 18:27); Eric Bolwerk (17th, 18:30); Ryan Esch (40th, 19:34); and Ben Waitrovich (57th, 20:35).
Times and places for I-S were Chase Przybylski (ninth, 18:04); Dylan Robbins (35th, 19:21); Michael Schaefer (55th, 20:33); Stefan Nelson (67th, 21:38); Ian Thurston (68th, 21:44); and Brandon Ibe (69th, 21:46).
Times and places for W-F were Logan Kobiske (43rd, 19:44); Zach Volz (45th, 19:57); Austin Goetsch (64th, 28:58); Glen Walborn (73rd, 22:45); Tristan Singer (77th, 23:40); and Aaron Ebert (79th, 24:21).
W-F’s Caragan Volz led area runners in the girls’ race, as she placed second in 16:05. Other finishers for the Indians were Paige Kempf (45th, 18:42); Miranda Arndt (70th, 20:31); Brianne Durrant (74th, 21:09); Aysia Schroeder (79th, 22:05); Emily Durrant (80th, 22:30); and Brittany Durrant (83rd, 22:50).
Times and places for Waupaca were Autumn Schultz (ninth, 16:49); Michelle Petkovsek (14th, 16:59); Ashley Jeske (23rd, 17:31); Alisa Blank (25th, 17:31); Victoria Nowak (41st, 18:35); Raina Eddy (46th, 18:45); and Bailey Wanty (49th, 19:12).
Times and places for I-S were Leighten Fischer (third, 16:12); Emily Sether (fourth, 16:24); Shelby Trzebiatowski (19th, 17:07); Natalie Gauerke (31st, 17:57); Krystal Tysdal (57th, 19:29); Ariana Garton (68th, 20:28); and Emily Madson (84th, 23:06).
All three teams will compete in sectional meets Saturday, Oct. 26. Waupaca will host a Division 2 meet, while W-F and I-S will be at the Division 3 Amherst Sectional at Standing Rocks County Park.
