LaVern Ella Louise Rice, age 76, Shiocton, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Monday, November 04, 2013.
LaVern was born on July 28, 1937, in Ripon, daughter of the late Fred and Marcella (Helms) Kamke. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She also loved horses, polka, country music, playing cards and Saturday nights with Jane and JoAnn. LaVern was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She is survived by her daughters, Sheila (Jim) Betchner, New London and Crystal (Josh) Winterfeldt, Shiocton; grandchildren: Andrea Betchner, Peter Betchner, Ethan Stenz, Zander Stenz, Nova Winterfeldt and Veda Winterfeldt. Six sisters: Lorraine (Eugene) Young, Bonduel; Linda (Gerald) Young, Shawano; JoAnn Taylor, New London; Hope Prahl, Manawa; Jane Pomerenke, Waupaca and Della Prahl (special friend, Tom Rhode), Clintonville. LaVern is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Fred Kamke Jr. and Kenneth Kamke, and four sisters: Fern Taylor, Jean Kamke, Judy Kamke and Pearl Kamke.
Funeral services for LaVern will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Borchardt & Moder Funeral Home, Shiocton with Bishop Christopher Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Town of Maine. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
