Klinger, Phyllis E.

Phyllis E. Klinger, age 92, of New London, was called home by her Lord on Wednesday, November 20, 2013.

She was born on February 23, 1921, in Hortonville, WI, to the late Stanley and Alma (Opper) Christian. She married Orville Klinger on February 22, 1941, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hortonville. They spent their early married life in Oshkosh, where in 1947, their daughter, Kay was born. In 1953, they moved to their house on the river in New London. But, the home they spent the majority of the married life in, was located on the Christian Farm at the end of Huntley Road. Many happy family memories were created there. But sadly, Orville preceded her in death on March 16, 2004. Phyllis worked at Ben Franklin in New London for many years, and then later she was the receptionist at the medical office of Luis Galang. She was an active member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and was heavily involved in the Emanuel Lutheran Prayer Chain. She enjoyed crocheting, breakfast with her close friends on Mondays, hosting/attending royal rummy dinner get-togethers, and most of all, watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. They meant the world to her – she baked the best coffeecakes and made the best iced tea!!

She will be missed dearly by her daughter, Kay (David) McHugh; her grandchildren: Heather (Joe) Marten, Andrea (Kevin) Schneider, and Megan (Jerome) Portnoy; her great-grandchildren: Paige and Ty Marten, McHugh and Lucy Schneider; as well as her brothers-in-law: Milt Klinger and Mark Martin; sisters-in-law: Alice Busha and Ruth (Darrell) Allen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Roger (Gladys) Christian, Dale (Dorothy) Christian; brother and sisters-in-law: Lester Busha, Athene Martin, and Marv Klinger.

A Christian Funeral for Phyllis will be celebrated on Friday, November 22, 2013, at 11:00am at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 200 E. Quincy St., New London. Visitation will be from 9 until the start of the service at the church. Assisting the family with the arrangements is Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London, www.clinehansonfuneralhome.com
