A Waupaca woman lost control of her vehicle shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, crossed the road at a high rate of speed, took out a fire hydrant and light pole, then slammed into Book World, located on the 100 block of North Main Street in Waupaca.
Bricks were knocked loose from the building and a display window was shattered.
The driver, identified as Savanna D. Spencer, 24, Waupaca, was subsequently arrested on charges of operating while intoxicated, operating after revocation and operating without insurance.
She was previously convicted of drunken driving in July 2011.
