Cultivating a greener school

Students Hope Ullmann and Brett Handschke, from the School of Enterprise Marketing, have been putting together a recycling program for New London High School.

The school ordered brand-new recycling bins that are placed around the school in the higher traffic areas, for students to recycle their plastic, or glass bottles, and aluminum cans. There are new bins for the classrooms, specifically for paper recycling.

To achieve success, they have been working on getting the word out to the students and teachers by placing posters around school, creating commercials for the school announcements, and creating a bulletin board to continue to educate the high school about the importance of recycling.

Handschke attended a school faculty meeting to inform the teachers about the new bins going into the classrooms and to encourage the teachers to further educate their students about this new project. He also attended a school board meeting to share the success of the project with the New London community.
