The Waupaca Comets just couldn’t handle the stifling pressure applied by the New London Bulldogs on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
New London’s pressure defense helped them earn a 44-19 win.
The first quarter saw both teams start slow, but New London led 9-4 after one frame.
The Bulldogs found their touch in the second quarter and turned up the intensity on defense, outscoring Waupaca 14-3 to take a 23-7 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Bulldogs outscored Waupaca 17-8, putting the game far out of reach. Both teams scored four points in the fourth quarter, ending the game a 44-19 in favor of New London.
Mickey Roland led New London with 10 points, while Lexi Roland added nine. Payton Mix netted eight, Cambria Fitzgerald scored six, and Gretl Steingraber tallied four points. Amber Pethke contributed three points while Maddie Schroeder and Leah Porath both scored two.
