Gullixon, Elva C.

Elva C. Gullixon, Waupaca, WI (formerly of Iola, WI), age 85 – died on Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Crystal River Nursing Facility in Waupaca, WI.

She was born on November 11, 1928 in Fairdale, ND, the daughter of Edwin and Clarice (Thorson) Erickson. Elva is survived by her children: Jonathon (Kim) Gullixon of Spanish Fort, AL, Cynthia (James) Miller of Waupaca, Michael Gullixon Sr of Waupaca, and Rhoda (Dave) Huycke of Waupaca; grandchildren: Michael Gullixon Jr, Ivy (Nathon) Newell, Abby (Nathan) Miller, and Samantha (David) Dyson; and great grandchildren: Joseph Gullixon, Isabella Dyson, Jackson Miller, Reagan Miller, and Mason Newell. She is also survived by a sister, Elaine Knudson of Harris, MN, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Keith Gullixon; her parents, and three brothers: Donald, Lynn, and Kenneth Erickson.

Elva was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waupaca where she belonged to the Esther group. She had been a school bus driver for over 25 years and had driven for the Iola, Stevens Point, and Waupaca school systems. She enjoyed cooking and was famous for her Lefse. She also enjoyed knitting. She loved music, both playing and singing, and had been active through the years with various musical groups.

A funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Waupaca, WI on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverend Larry Gross, officiating. Interment will be in the Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in Iola, WI. A visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
