Rineck, Gladys S.

Gladys (Wesley) Rineck, age 99, of Iola, WI passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Iola Living Assistance in Iola, WI.

She was born on January 14, 1914 to Christian and Bendikka (Hanson) Wesley in Iola, WI. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Iola and was a 1931 graduate of Iola High School. She attended one year of college at UW-Stevens Point. During her lifetime, she was employed as a bookkeeper, store clerk, and a caregiver. She enjoyed cooking , baking and entertaining guests. Gladys married Carl J. Rineck on May 20, 1944 and lived in Iola until 1953 when the family moved to Milwaukee, WI. After Carl retired from the US Mail contract trucking in 1974, they returned to Iola. She was a member of St Mark’s Lutheran Church, their ladies aid, and Lutheran Women’s Missonary League. She was an avid dancer and belonged to the Iola dance club with Carl.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas (Ellen) Rineck of Marion, WI and Wesley (Diane) Rineck of Wauwatosa, WI; five grandchildren: Mark (Leah) Rineck of West Bend, WI; Matthew Rineck (Stacey Sollinger) of Minneapolis, MN; Ashley Rineck, Lauren (Victor) Ordonez, and John Rineck, all of the Milwaukee area; and two great grandchildren, Kayley and Natalie; two nieces, Kathleen (Howard) Bestul of Iola, WI and Barbara Wesley of Madison, WI. Gladys was the youngest, lived the longest, and was the last member of her generation in the Rineck/Wesley families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; two sisters, Evelyn (Otto) Much and Mildred (Walter) Erickson; three brothers, Hanford (Ragna), Burnett (Kay) and Allen Wesley; two special nieces, Phyllis (Erickson) Meehan and Eleanor (Erickson) Owens. She was also preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Anna (Ed) Kriese, Clara (Walter) Miller, and four brothers-in-law, Albert (Inez), Edward (Jeanette), William (Minnie) and Henry (Tela) Rineck.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Symco, WI. with the Rev. Jeffrey Smiles officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Town of Union , Wisconsin, later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or the Iola Living Assistance wish list. The Voie Funeral Home of Iola is assisting the family with arrangements.
