Amherst handed Iola-Scandinavia a 54-35 defeat Jan. 10 in a Central Wisconsin 8 Conference matchup of girls’ basketball teams.
The Falcons outscored the Thunderbirds 14-3 in the first quarter, led 22-16 at halftime and 35-25 after three quarters before outscoring the home team 19-10 over the final eight minutes.
Kylie Johnson led the T-Birds with 11 points, while Brooke Phillips and Leighten Fischer added nine and eight, respectively. Phillips also shared the rebound lead with Emily Sether with five each.
Amherst outrebounded the T-Birds 53-31.
The T-Birds were scheduled to play in Manawa Jan. 14, but that game was called off due to the weather and has been rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 17. I-S will host Weyauwega-Fremont at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17.
