Tigers hand Truckers 56-40 defeat

The Ripon Tigers earned a 56-40 win over the Trucker boys varsity basketball team on Thursday, Jan. 9.

Ripon led 14-9 after one quarter and 30-21 at halftime. A huge third quarter saw Ripon outscore Clintonville 15-2. The Truckers rallied in the fourth quarter, but still came up short despite outscoring the Tigers 17-11.

The Truckers made 15 of 32 shots (46 percent) while Ripon made 24 of 42 attempts (57 percent). Clintonville players missed all nine of their 3-point attempts, while Ripon hit two shots from beyond the arc.

Clintonville made 10 of 11 free throw attempts (90 percent), while Ripon made 6 of 13 tries (46 percent). Ripon outrebounded Clintonville 18-16 and had 16 assists to Clintonville’s 11.

Ripon had 12 steals, while Clintonville nabbed nine steals. The Truckers committed 18 turnovers, while Ripon turned the ball over 12 times.

The Truckers were whistled for 17 fouls, while Ripon committed 12 fouls.

Turner Doornink led Clintonville with 18 points on 8 of 10 shooting. Tyler Petermann scored nine points, going 3 for 3 from the floor. Andy Schmidt and Aaron Teske both scored four points, while Nick Hogen added three and Skyler Lehman scored two.

The Truckers play at home on Friday, Jan. 17. Opening tip is set for 7:15 p.m.
