Mary L. Wollenberg, age 55 of Clintonville, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the Greentree Health & Rehabilitation Center, Clintonville.
Mary was born on November 7, 1958 in New London, the daughter of Leila (Henschel) Wollenberg and the late Martin Wollenberg. In 1977, she graduated from Clintonville High School. On May 20, 1978, Mary married David Degener at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherwood, WI. The couple continued to live in Sherwood where Mary worked at a local restaurant. In 1981, Mary returned to Clintonville and worked at the Hortonville Toy Factory and the Hortonville Canning Company. In Clintonville she worked at the The Shoe Factory and Kids Corner Pizza. She enjoyed her cats, riding her bicycle, making crafts, fishing and gardening flowers and vegetables. Mary especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She was a member of Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville where she also taught Sunday School for a number of years.
Survivors include: her daughter, Kristine (Jeff) LaViolette, Clintonville; her grandchildren, Chase and Madelyn LaViolette; her mother, Leila Wollenberg, Clintonville; her sisters, Donna (Daniel) Pingel Sr., Clintonville; Carol (Brian) Sawall, Marion; her brothers: David Wollenberg and Thomas (Darlene) Wollenberg, Clintonville; and Scott (Lisa) Wollenberg, Bonduel; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Martin and her brother Charles.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville with the Benjamin Hollingsead officiating. Interment will be in the Roseland Cemetery, Township of Dupont, Waupaca County. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wollenberg family. The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Clintonville is assisting her family with the arrangements.
