Gary A. Affeldt, age 72, New London, passed away on January 18, 2014.
He was born on May 2, 1941, in Bear Creek, son of the late Alton and Vivian (Christensen) Affeldt. On September 29, 1962, Gary was united in marriage to Caroldean Wendt. He worked in general construction for over 40 years. He was a member of the Local #330 labor union. He enjoyed attending sporting events his grandchildren participated in. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, deer hunting, reading, NASCAR, going on road trips and was a greyhound racing enthusiast. He was very active in community and Chamber events.
Gary is survived by his wife Caroldean of 51 years, children: Gary, Germantown; Cathy (Don) Zehner, Greenville; Connie (David) Viergutz, Clintonville; Brad and Brian of New London; four grandchildren: Stefanie and Scott Zehner, Greenville and Jacob and Erin Viergutz, Clintonville. He is further survived by his sister, Pat (Roger) Smith, New London and sister-in-law, Audrey Wendt, Appleton. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Greg and a brother Albert.
Funeral services for Gary were held on Monday, January 20, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London with Rev. Marcus Schulz officiating. Visitation was held at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery, New London.
