Bulldogs crush Panthers

The New London boys’ basketball team earned a breakout win over the Oconto Falls Panthers on Thursday, Jan. 16, outscoring the home team 68-43.

Jacob Pinch had a big game for New London, scoring 20 points. Sam Porath scored 15, Ryan Wolf added eight, Nick Thomas and Ty Barrington both scored six, Ales Thiemer netted five, Ryan Krueger tallied four, Carter Thomson added two, and Tyler Jagiello contributed two.

As a team, the Bulldogs made 21 of 46 shots (46 percent) and 7 of 20 3-point attempts (35 percent). New London made 19 of 32 free throw attempts (59 percent).

The Bulldogs held a 29-25 rebounding advantage and had 15 assists to Oconto Falls’ 9. New London had eight steals, while Oconto Falls had four. The Panthers turned the ball over 13 times, while New London had only six giveaways.

“We had a great third quarter, scoring 21 points and holding Oconto Falls to 8,” said Coach Ken Jagiello. “Jacob Pinch and Sam Porath each made two 3-pointers in the third quarter which allowed us to pull away. We played very good defense as well during that quarter.”

The Bulldogs play at home on Friday, Jan. 24. Opening tip is set for 7:15 p.m.
