The Iola-Scandinavia girls’ basketball team didn’t have an answer for Jennifer Dowden.
Dowden scored a game-high 32 points Jan. 23 as Bonduel handed the Thunderbirds a 60-53 Central Wisconsin 8 Conference loss.
The Bears improved to 6-1 in conference play with the win, while the T-Birds fell to 2-4 in league play and 4-7 overall.
The game remained close until Bonduel outscored the T-Birds 24-11 in the third quarter. I-S took a 15-14 lead into the second quarter, but trailed 27-26 at halftime.
Bonduel’s big third quarter gave the Bears a 51-37 lead heading into the final period before the T-Birds outscored the home team 16-9 the rest of the way.
Kylie Johnson and Brook Phillips led the T-Birds with 11 points each. Phillips snared a team-high 12 rebounds, while Emily Sether added seven points, seven rebounds and three assists.
Taylor Weier and Deanna Zernicke also finished in double figures for Bonduel with 10 points each.
The T-Birds hosted Wittenberg-Birnamwood Jan. 28 and will head to Stevens Point Friday, Jan. 31, for a 7:30 p.m. CWC-8 matchup with Pacelli.
