Bulldogs overcome early deficit to beat Vikings

February 5, 2014

The Bulldogs earned a 58-50 win over the Denmark Vikings on Thursday, Jan. 30. Despite being down 11-1 early in the game, the Bulldogs battled back to earn a win in front of their home crowd.

Ryan Wolf led New London with 20 points, while Jacob Pinch scored 17 and Ty Barrington added 11. Sam Porath scored six and Nick Thomas and Tyler Jagiello both scored two.

New London made 14 of 37 shots (38 percent) and hit 6 of 14 from 3-point range (43 percent) while also making 24 of 32 free throws (75 percent).

The Bulldogs outrebounded the Vikings 26-20 and had seven steals to Denmark’s one. New London turned the ball over just four times, while Denmark coughed it up eight times. The Bulldogs were whistled for eight fouls, while Denmark committed 22 fouls.

“After a slow start, we worked our way back into it,” said Coach Ken Jagiello. “We did a nice job attacking the rim, made excellent passes and made free throws. This was a nice win.”

The Bulldogs play at home on Tuesday, Feb. 11. Opening tip is set for 7:15 p.m.
