Wolves fall twice in two days

It wasn’t a good two days for the Manawa Wolves boys’ basketball team, Friday, Jan. 31 and Saturday, Feb. 1. The team lost to Wittenberg-Birnamwood, 46-37 on Friday, as well as to Amherst, 59-21 on Saturday.

Manawa countered Wittenberg-Birnamwood throughout the first quarter of their game, as Manawa trailed by only two points, 9-7 after the first quarter.

Both teams picked up the offensive output in the second quarter, but once again the Chargers outscored the Wolves, this time 17-12. When the two teams headed to the locker room at halftime, the Chargers held a 46-37 lead.

It was a good third quarter for the Wolves as they outscored their opponent 10-9 in the quarter. The Chargers regrouped to outscore the Wolves 11-8 in the fourth quarter to secure the nine point victory.

David Blum led the Wolves with 12 points. Adam Langman scored nine points, while Matt Radloff chipped in with six points and Brandon Radloff with five points. Luke Wilz also scored four points, and Andrew Kreklow scored one point.
