More charges filed against New London teen

Michael A. Kallas, 17, New London, was charged with felony bail jumping, misdemeanor bail jumping and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Due to prior convictions for possession with intent to deliver of Schedule IV drugs and for felony and misdemeanor bail jumping, Kallas has been charged as a repeat offender.

He also faces burglary and theft charges in Outagamie County, as well as additional drug paraphernalia and bail jumping charges in Waupaca County.

On the evening of Feb. 14, New London Police officers Todd Sarazin and Ryan Denu were dispatched to Hatten Park in response to a minivan being stuck in a ditch.

The aunt of Earl Shepard Jr., 24, Clintonville, reported he had called and needed help removing a minivan from a ditch.

According to the criminal complaint, Kallas was the driver and the passenger, later identified as Shepard, initially claimed to be someone else. Shepard was later charged with obstructing an officer.

The police reported finding a pot pipe in Kallas’ pocket.
