Walters, Betty Jane

Betty Jane Walters, Waupaca, Wisconsin, age 86, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Appleton Medical Center in Appleton, WI.

She was born September 23, 1927 in Marinette, WI, daughter of Henry and Mary (Dumke) Rader. On November 20, 1948, Betty Jane married Norman M. Walters in Porterfield, WI and together they shared 49 years of marriage before his passing on November 26, 1997. Betty volunteered her time at the RMC Hospital Auxiliary and as a member of Trinity Lutheran Church assisted with the youth dinner program. Spending time with her family and close friends was her number one priority. She truly had a green thumb and was an avid gardener and wonderful cook. Betty enjoyed many forms of crafting, playing cards, and meeting people throughout her life. Some later pleasures included giving family members sunset cruise rides on her golf cart and enjoying her beautiful home. She will be deeply missed by all of her loving family and friends.

Betty Jane is survived by, children: Cheryl Lynn (Neil) Brunner of Milwaukee, WI; Jeffrey (Lois) Walters of Waupaca, WI; Jenniffer Walters of Waupaca, WI; grandchildren: Heather (Dan) Goeden of Wauwatosa, WI; Nathan (Andrea) Brunner of North Carolina; Christine Walters of Waupaca, WI; Jeremy Walters of Milwaukee, WI; Christopher Walters of Appleton, WI; great-granddaughter, Peyton Goeden of Wauwatosa, WI; special friends: LeAnn and Mike Lagerman of Greenfield, WI and their children, Eric and Ryan (Emily); Lisa Temby of Waupaca, WI and her son, Aaron. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Rader; her husband, Norman Walters; and one brother, Richard Rader.

A Funeral Service will be Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca. Reverend Dr. Charles L. Tews will officiate. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Barton Cemetery in the Town of Farmington. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Rawhide Ranch in New London, WI in the name of Betty Jane Walters. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
