Waupaca man faces domestic abuse charges

Raymond W. Chapman, 26, Waupaca, was charged with disorderly conduct and false imprisonment as acts of domestic abuse.

On April 13, Waupaca County Sheriff’s Deputy Dave Huberty was called to a home in Waupaca, where he met with Chapman’s wife and her father and brother.

She had not wanted to call police, but her family called for her, according to the criminal complaint.

Shortly before noon that day, she had gone to a baby party at a friend’s home. Chapman had argued with her about the visit. He allegedly called her after she left and told her to return home because the van was leaking coolant.

She told Huberty that an argument ensued when she arrived at their home in Scandinavia. She accused Chapman of pushing her against a wall and putting in her in a chokehold.

When she tried to leave, Chapman took her car keys and cellphone, the complaint says.

She left on foot and went to a neighbor’s home. They gave her a ride to her parents’ home in Waupaca.
