Warning to Internet users: Do not use Internet Explorer

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has announced that Internet users are being advised not to use Internet Explorer at this time.

Over the weekend, FireEye Research Labs, a California-based Internet security software company, announced the discovery of a serious security flaw. The Department of Homeland Security is advising Internet users to utilize an alternative web browser for the time being.

At this time, there is not a solution to the security flaw, but Microsoft is working to fix the problem. According to FireEye Research Labs, Internet users can avoid the bug by turning off Adobe Flash. This is because the computer bug attacks a computer’s memory by using Adobe Flash.

However, this measure doesn’t apply to computer users running Windows XP, as Microsoft ended support of that system in early April.
