Panthers blank Comets at home

Thirteen strikeouts and a seven-run fourth inning helped Stevens Point defeat Waupaca 9-0 April 25 in a nonconference baseball game.

The Panthers took a 1-0 lead into the fourth after coming up with a run in the top of the first and added another run in the fifth.

Cal Giese struck out 13 batters and held the Comets to two hits to get the win, while Owen McCann took the loss.

Waupaca also handed Clintonville a 20-6 defeat April 22 in an Eastern Wisconsin Conference matchup.

The Comets’ nonconference home game with Weyauwega-Fremont scheduled for April 29 was rained out. Waupaca will host Appleton Xavier at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, for an EVC doubleheader.

Waupaca is also scheduled to host Little Chute at 4:45 p.m. Monday, May 5, for a game rescheduled from April 1.
