Walks, errors stall Truckers

Trucker pitchers issued eight walks and hit two batters while the defense committed seven errors to help the Waupaca Comets capture a 20-6 win.

The Comets scored four runs in the first inning, two in the second, three in the third, five in the fifth and six in the sixth to win the game by the 10-run rule.

Clintonville scored five runs in the third inning and one in the fourth inning to draw within three runs but couldn’t plate any more runs the rest of the game.
The Comets tallied 10 hits, while Clintonville had eight hits. The Comets committed just one error.

Zander Neuville pitched for the win, while Parker Mindel took the loss.

For Waupaca, Jared Erickson was 2×3; Zander Neuville was 3×4; Nate Nelson had a home run and 3 RBI; and Alex Grall was 2×5.

Turner Doornink led the Trucker offense, going 3×3. Nick Hogen was 2×3 at the plate.

Clintonville 13, Berlin 3

The Truckers led 7-2 after three innings and cruised to a 13-3 win in six innings during game one of a doubleheader with Berlin.

Clintonville’s offense cranked out 13 hits, while the defense limited Berlin to five hits but committed two errors. Berlin’s defense committed four errors in the game.

Jaden Doornink picked up the win on the mound. He also had a good game at the plate, going 2×4.

Hogen led the offense, going 3×4. Zac Riemer was 2×4 and Turner Doornink was 2×4 with 4 RBI.

Berlin 12, Clintonville 9
The Truckers jumped out to an 8-3 lead after two innings but couldn’t hold on for the win. Berlin scored six runs in the fourth inning and three in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Berlin had nine hits and capitalized on three Trucker errors. Clintonville had 10 hits and benefitted from five Berlin errors.

Turner Doornink took the loss on the mound, but led the team’s offense by going 3×4 at the plate. Jaden Doornink was 2×4 and Hogen was also 2×4.
