May 8, 2014

Weyauwega-Fremont’s baseball team jumped out to an 8-0 lead May 1 and went on to defeat Amherst 11-6 in a Central Wisconsin 8 Conference game.

The Indians scored twice in the first, fourth and fifth innings and added single runs in the second and third frames. Amherst came up with six runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 8-6, but W-F added three insurance runs in the seventh.

Zach Costello had three hits and drove in a team-high four runs for the Indians, while Trevor Wetzel and Nick Walters added two hits each. Bryce Akey picked up the win on the mound.
