Several Iola-Scandinavia track athletes won their respective events May 1 at the Tri-County Invitational in Plainfield.
First-place finishers for the Thunderbirds included Leighten Fischer in the girls’ 200-meter dash (27.76), 400-meter dash (1:02.64) and long jump (16 feet, 8 3/4 inches); Shelby Trzebiatowski in the girls’ 800-meter run (2:30.94); and the boys’ 800-meter relay team of Matt Matheny, Devin Paulson, Isaac Lashua and Kristian Welch (1:36.4).
Seconds went to Welch in the boys’ 100-meter dash; Dylan Robbins in the boys’ 400; Tanner Krusa in the boys’ 110-meter hurdles; the girls’ 800 relay team of Tyisha Weed, Micaela Jobke, Hunter Frye and Morgan Frye; the girls’ 1,600-meter relay team of Weed, Emily Sether, Trzebiatowski and Fischer; and the boys’ 1,600 relay team of Paulson, Matheny, Welch and Robbins.
Seconds for Weyauwega-Fremont went to Corey Schmidt in the boys’ 200, Logan Kobiske in the boys’ 1,600-meter run, Dan Crist in the boys’ long jump and Caragan Volz in the girls’ triple jump.
The T-Bird boys and girls placed third, while the W-F boys and girls finished fifth and eighth, respectively.
