Waupaca picked up a 3-1 Eastern Valley Conference girls’ soccer win over Freedom May 8.
Alyssa Nicewander opened the scoring for Waupaca at the 33-minute mark, with Josee Waitrovich getting the assist.
Lizzi Hanke made it 2-0 13 minutes into the second half with an unassisted goal after winning the ball just outside of the penalty area.
Hanke found the net again five minutes later off of an assist from Nicewander.
Freedom scored at the 62-minute mark.
Waupaca outshot the Irish 8-6 and the Comets’ Taylor Korth finished with five saves.
“We moved the ball around well in the attacking third of the field,” coach Mark Polebitski said. “The girls created numerous scoring opportunities throughout the match. It was our best effort of the season so far.”
