Waupaca boys first at pair of home meets

Several first-place finishes added up to a Vic-Tree Invitational championship for the Waupaca boys’ track team.

The Comet girls also had several individual winners at the meet, held May 8 at Waupaca High School.

Meanwhile, the Comets also hosted a quadrangular meet May 6 that included teams from Clintonville, Berlin and Wautoma.

The Waupaca boys finished with 164.5 points, while the girls placed third with 105.

New London’s boys and girls placed third and second, respectively.

First-place finishers for the Waupaca boys were Dakotah Revai in the shot put and discus (43 feet, 2 1/2 inches, 119 feet, 5 inches); Christian Overman in the triple jump (40 feet, 3 inches) and 110-meter hurdles (16.61); Mitchell Rotta in the 3,200-meter run (10:38.17); Nic Joch in the 200-meter dash (23.25); Broghan Kendziora in the 300-meter hurdles (42.82); and the 400-meter relay team of Overman, Kendziora, Travis Heschke and Drew Simonson (45.67).

New London’s Jake Thomas won the boys’ high jump event with a leap of 5 feet, 10 inches and joined Josh Hoewisch, Jonah Backus and Tiquane Hodges on the winning 800-meter relay team (1:36.15).

Firsts for the Waupaca girls went to Tatiana Sotka in the 100- and 200-meter dashes (12.88, 26.24); Macie Davidson in the 800-meter run (1:00.41); Alicia Blank in the 300 hurdles (49.47); and the 1,600-meter relay team of Victoria Nowak, Michelle Petkovsek, Sotka and Davidson (4:16.94).

Waupaca won the boys’ competition with 103 points, while the Comet girls placed third.

Firsts for the Comet boys went to Joch in the 200 and 400 dashes (23.32, 53,26); Overman in the 110 hurdles (16.48) and triple jump (39 feet, 3 inches; Jake Piencikowski in the pole vault (10 feet); and the 400 relay team of Overman, Kendziora, Heschke and Simonson (46.01).

Firsts for the Comet girls went to Blank in the 300 hurdles (49.44); and the 1,600 relay team of Nowak, Petkovsek, Sotka and Davidson (4:28.05).
