Koch brothers not the bad guys

I’m sure that most people have seen, read or heard the many criticisms of the Koch brothers for funding conservative causes, largely because the mainstream media and U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., have splashed these negative remarks for all to see, read and hear.

They have also remained quite silent about the dozens of other donors who have given to liberal causes. As a result, many people believe the Koch brothers to be the bad guys.

The Koch brothers are criticized for donating huge sums of money to conservatives. It is true that they’ve given over $18 million between 1989 and 2014. What folks don’t know however, is that the Koch brothers are No. 59 out of the top 156 all time big donors between these years.

Yes, there are 49 others who have given more than the Koch brothers, ranging from $20 million to $61 million. And, 23 of the 49 have given to liberal causes. That’s 46.9 percent. Twelve have given to conservative groups, and 13 have given 50/50 to liberal and conservative groups alike.

So, why have Reid and the mainstream media chosen to rag on the Koch brothers as the bad guys? Do they hate conservatives that much? The big danger here is that the general public is getting very skewed information from the mainstream media, and what they don’t know, they don’t know. The whole news should be promulgated for everyone, partisan and non-partisan alike. It’s really too bad that the time-tested journalistic principles are being ignored today.
