Fourth drunken driving charged against Waupaca man

Christian R. Newby, 42, Waupaca, was charged with a fourth drunken driving offense and felony bail jumping.

On July 16, 2013, Newby appeared in Waupaca County Circuit Court on drug trafficking and marijuana charges. He was released on a $2,000 signature bond with the condition that he not commit any crimes.

At 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, Waupaca County Sheriff’s Deputy Bryan Strobusch was southbound on County Trunk QQ when he saw a vehicle peel out of a parking lot on County Road QQ in King. He pulled the vehicle over after it crossed State Highway 22 onto Old Highway 22.

Because the driver, identified as Newby, had three prior drunken driving convictions, he has a restriction of a 0.02 blood-alcohol level.

According to the criminal complaint, a preliminary breath test indicated that Newby had a 0.144 blood-alcohol level.
