Manawa takes third at Winona

The Manawa 14U fastpitch softball team won four of five games at the Stars and Stripes Fast Pitch Tournament and earning the top seed in pool play going into the final day of the tournament in Winona, Minnesota.

Manawa 6, Winona 3
Haley Reierson pitched and earned the win, striking out three and walking four. Morgyn Zielke, Claire Kreklow, Skye Amador and Ellen Field all had one hit to lead the offense.

Manawa 19, Holmen 5
Zielke earned the win on the mound, striking out nine batters while walking three in five innings of work. Kreklow, Amador and Zielke had three hits and Reierson added two.

Manawa 6, NW Diamonds 5
Kreklow pitched and earned the win while striking out five and walking five in six innings of work. Zielke had two hits to lead the offense, while Field, Matayah Pehtke and Lesley Wilz added one hit each.

Halle Stars 8, Manawa 0
After winning all three of their games Saturday, Manawa lost its first game Sunday to the second-seeded Halle Stars. Manawa committed seven errors in the game and stranded many baserunners, as the offense failed to get on track. Reierson, Kreklow and Zielke had one hit.

Manawa 6, NW Diamonds 5
In the game that would determine the third place winner, Manawa beat NW Diamonds behind strong pitching from Kreklow, who struck out six and walked three. Reierson, Amador and Field had two hits.

The team will continue to travel throughout the summer to play in tournaments.
