?Weird fishes? at Winchester

Justin Sipiorski will present “The Weird and Wonderful Fishes of Waupaca Waters” at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 30, at the Waupaca Area Public Library.

Hosted by Winchester Academy, the program is free and open to the public.

Sipiorski is associate professor of biology and curator of fishes at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Museum of Natural History.
Working with his students, Sipiorski monitors fish biogeography and collects fish tissues for research using fish DNA.

He is also a noted biological illustrator, whose drawings have appeared in the Peterson Field Guide series, and he oversees students interested in biological illustration projects.

Sipiorski earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from UWSP, his master’s degree in biology the University of South Dakota, and his doctorate in zoology from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
