Diamond Cats win one, lose one

The Clintonville American Legion Post 63 Diamond Cats moved their overall record to 4-3 and their league play record to 4-1 after winning one and losing one game last week.

Clintonville 18, Marion/Tigerton 3
Nick Hogen pitched a complete game, allowing three runs on five hits with four strikeouts and four walks. Woody Nelson took the loss, throwing three innings, allowing six runs while striking out three and walking one.

Turner Doornink powered the Diamond Cat offense with three hits, including a double, home run and four RBI. Aaron Morse and Parker Mindel also had three hits. Jansen VanDaalwyk, Damon Lorge and Vinny Doberstein all had two hits.

Tyler Marquardt and Travis Marquardt had two hits for Marion/Tigerton, while Andrew Cunliffe hit a double to drive in all three of Marion/Tigerton’s runs.

The Diamond Cats scored 12 runs in the fourth inning to blow the game open.

Turner Doornink homered in his fourth straight game.

Omro 3, Clintonville 0
Omro took an early 2-0 lead after the first inning, scoring one run on a bases loaded walk followed by a sacrifice fly.

Omro added another run in the fifth inning on back-to-back doubles. Jaden Doornink pitched in relief. He and Mindel combined to allow just three hits and strike out nine batters.

Clintonville’s offense never got on track as Omro pitcher Isaac Reyes allowed just two hits while struking out nine batters.

Jake Van Allen had two hits to lead Clintonville while Jaden Doornink earned two walks.
