Wing, Leland A.

Leland A. Wing, age 86 of New London, died unexpectedly at Appleton Medical Center on Thursday, July 10, 2014. 

Lee was born on April 15, 1928, in New London, Wisconsin, the son of Alfred and Alice (Cottrill) Wing. On May 1, 1945, he married Neva Kuppernus in New London. Lee worked at Borden’s in New London for 42 years retiring in 1990. Lee was an avid Red Sox, Packer, Badger, and New London Bulldogs Fan. He was a fixture at many Bulldog athletic events. Back in the day, Lee was known as a “crafty” left handed pitcher and was honored as part of the BABA 50 year All Star Team. Lee loved to golf, complete jigsaw puzzles, and play cards, especially sheepshead and cribbage. 

He is survived by: his wife, Neva; sons, Greg (Pam) Wing, Winona, MN and Terry (Julie) Wing, Appleton; grandchildren, Kerry (Tricia) Wing, Bryan Wing, Jeremy Wing (Amie), Shannon (Quin) Andrus, and Ryan Wing; great-grandchildren, Conner, Jordan, and Jaden Wing; and brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Joanne Kuppernus. Lee is further survived by one niece, nephews, relatives, and friends. Lee is preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Margaret Kuppernus; and brother and sister-in-law, Cliff and Jeanne Gerndt. 

The funeral service for Lee will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 14, 2014, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London, with Rev. Marcus Schultz officiating. Family and friends may call directly at church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, New London.
