Jaeckels, Janet Elaine

Janet Elaine Jaeckels returned home to her Lord and Savior on July 20, 2014.

Jan courageously fought numerous health issues for years so she could cherish time spent with her family and friends that she so adored. Rest in peace without pain or suffering Jan, as a faithful servant you made a difference on this earth and touched so many lives.

Jan was born on August 4, 1938, in New London, Wisconsin, the daughter of Milford and Joan Rex. Jan’s passion for life burned bright. Family was her focus along with helping others. Jan worked as a telephone operator, an x-ray technician, and spent most of her career as a teacher’s aide in the New London school district. Jan had a way of reaching out and touching the hearts of others. Her compassion was immense and her hugs heartfelt. Due to Jan’s efforts in the New London School District, the family was awarded the Family of the Year in Education Award in 1987. This was the only year such a recognition was given. On October 24, 1959, Jan married Robert H. Jaeckels. Jan and Bob were blessed with three children whom Jan lived for. Jan created the best birthday celebrations for her children, she was a Girl Scout leader, chaperoned numerous activities to stay connected to her children, made holidays so very special, and supported all athletic and music activities her children participated in. Then came her grandchildren. Jan loved every minute she spent with her grandchildren. She supported their many diverse activities, but most importantly loved them with her heart and soul. Jan was a best friend, mentor, and spiritual guide, but most importantly known as Mom and Grandma. Jan was a member of Most Precious Blood Church and was an active volunteer. Jan had a strong faith and belief in the Virgin Mary. Jan believed angels surrounded us and guided us. Friendships were so important to Jan. She maintained friendships throughout her life. Card club, lunch with friends and the ever so important phone calls were ways Jan stayed connected to her friends.

Jan is survived by her husband Robert Jaeckels; daughter Laurie (Scott) Klos; son Jim (Tina) Jaeckels; son Rob (Toni) Jaeckels; grandchildren, Megan and Jenna Klos; Jeremy and Jesse Jaeckels, Zachary Malliet; Noah and Maryssa Jaeckels; sister Mary Manser; brother Dave (Ruth) Rex; and numerous other relatives and close friends. Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Milford and Joan Rex; two brothers, Don and Christopher; a sister, Elizabeth; a brother-in-law, Don Manser and numerous other family and friends whom welcomed her home. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Rennes Health and Rehab Center and the Theda Care Hospice and Palliative Care for their support in her final days.
