Ruth Evelyn Hohman, age 95, New London passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014.
She was born on August 12, 1918, in Lady-smith, daughter of the late Roy and Esther (Johnson) Jennings. In September of 1938, Ruth was married to Donovan Hohman. He preceded her in death in 1991. Following marriage they lived in Chilton and moved to New London in 1947. Ruth was a member of the Gray Ladies, active in Emanuel Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church, including ladies aid, Lutheran Girls Pioneers, and was instrumental in sewing the choir robes at Trinity. She enjoyed bridge, traveling, riding in pony carts, cooking, sewing and craft work. Ruth liked to travel out west and taking her grandchildren fishing on Lake Michigan.
She is survived by her children: Rochelle (Gerald) Schroeder; Gary Hohman and Wanda (Bill) Nyberg; a sister, Beatrice Klief; grandchildren: Gerilynn (Duane) Burton; Tanya (Scott) Meyer; Sheldon (Dawn) Schroeder; Erick (Marci) Schroeder; Dawn (Jeff) Ahonen; Mark Nyberg and Kevin (Jana) Nyberg. Ruth is further survived by 13 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Merlin, sisters, Mildred and Marjorie, a son Abner and a great-great-grandson Ashton.
Funeral services for Ruth will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Residence Chapel, New London with Rev. Bil Sutlief officiating. Visitation will be held at the chapel from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery, New London. There will also be a celebration of Ruth’s life held on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, New London. Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London is assisting the family with the arrangements.
