Woman accused of stealing van

Shelba J. Cranford, 42, Waupaca, was charged with operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 13, Waupaca Police Officer Wesely Zube was dispatched to a residence on Royalton Street where he spoke to a man who accused Cranford of stealing his van.

The man said he was there for a cookout where he met Cranford for the first time.

He told Zube that Cranford asked to borrow his van in order to drive to a nearby convenience store to buy cigarettes. She never returned.

According to the criminal complaint, Cranford had been staying at the Royalton Street home. Most of her belongings were missing after she left with the van.

Police later learned that she had moved to Green Bay. She is currently being held in custody on a $500 cash bond.
