Traffic
• July 25 – A man was injured in a two-vehicle accident at about 1 p.m. in the city of Waupaca.

A vehicle driven by Gerald Beattie, 74, of Menasha, was stopped at the stop sign on the ramp from U.S. Highway 10 westbound to County Road A. The vehicle proceeded across the lanes of traffic to re-enter US 10 westbound, but pulled into the path of a southbound vehicle driven by Jerry Larson, 48, of Waupaca.

Beattie told police he did not see the other vehicle until they collided.

Both vehicles came to rest near the on-ramp to US 10.

Larson was transported to the hospital with injuries.

All three occupants of the Beattie vehicle were reportedly uninjured.

• July 23 – A motorcyclist was injured in a one-vehicle accident at about 8 a.m. in the town of Farmington.

Dean Zaretzke, 51, of Waupaca, was northbound on Townline Road when he encountered a deer in the roadway. 

Zaretzke took action to avoid the deer, causing both the front and rear tire of the motorcycle to fully lock. This caused the motorcycle to become unbalanced, ejecting Zaretzke.

Both the operator and the motorcycle skidded along the roadway before coming to rest in the east ditch. 

According to the police report, Zaretzke was wearing a helmet.
