Three area high schools will host football scrimmages later this month, while seven other teams will hit the road.
Scrimmages are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Aug. 15-16.
Most teams will open the season Friday, Aug. 22, but a handful – including Manawa and Marion/Tigerton – have games scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 21.
Here’s a rundown on scrimmages involving local teams:
• Waupaca: The Comets will head to Wrightstown Aug. 15 to take on Wrightstown, Hortonville and Ashwaubenon at 10 a.m.
• Weyauwega-Fremont: The Indians will head to Berlin Aug. 15 to face Berlin, Wisconsin Dells and Columbus at 6 p.m.
• Iola-Scandinavia: The Thunderbirds will join Wild Rose, Oshkosh Lourdes, Menasha St. Mary Central and Gillett at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh at 5 p.m. Aug. 15.
• Manawa: The Wolves will head to Manitowoc Roncalli Aug. 15 to face Roncalli, Cedar Grove-Belgium and Denmark at 4 p.m.
• Wild Rose: The Wildcats will take on Iola-Scandinavia, Oshkosh Lourdes, Menasha St. Mary Central and Gillett at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh at 5 p.m. Aug. 15.
• Amherst: The Falcons will host Winneconne, New Holstein and Laconia at 4 p.m. Aug. 15.
• New London: The Bulldogs will host Mosinee, Freedom and Peshtigo at 5 p.m. Aug. 15.
• Clintonville: The Truckers will head to Appleton East Aug. 15 for a seven-team scrimmage with Appleton East, Appleton West, Fond du Lac St. Mary’s Springs, Fox Valley Lutheran, Oshkosh West and Green Bay Notre Dame at 3 p.m.
• Hortonville: The Polar Bears will head to Wrightstown Aug. 15 to take on Waupaca, Wrightstown and Ashwaubenon at 10 a.m.
• Marion/Tigerton: The Thundercatz will host White Lake/Elcho at 11 a.m. Aug. 16.
