Firemen?s Festival in Clintonville

The 35th annual Firemen’s Festival will be held Friday and Saturday, Aug. 8-9, at W.A. Olen Park. The event is hosted by the Clintonville Firemen’s Association.

The Festival will kick off with the Firefighters Fish Fry at Friday, Aug. 8 at 5 p.m. Slab Band from the Wausau area will perform at 8 p.m. It will be the band’s first appearance at the festival. The band provides a wide variety of live music.

The live music is free all weekend. As always refreshments will also be available all weekend.

The highlight of the weekend will kick off Saturday, Aug. 9 at 11 a.m. with a huge parade on Main Street.

After the parade, Truck Town Sounds will be playing polka from 1-4 p.m. under the tent. Food will be available, catered by Mathews Supper Club of Clintonville. Kids can enjoy free games like kiddie water fights, a bounce house, the mountain of gold, dunk tank, and other kid activities.

Returning to the Festival will be our Bean Bag Toss Tournament, starting at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the park. Buy in per team is $10. The tournament is double elimination with 100 percent payout.

Saturday night will feature the band Hyde under the tent, bringing their classic to new rock style to the festival starting at 8 p.m. and playing through midnight.

Raffle tickets are available from local firemen, for a chance to win up to $1,000 and more than 200 door prizes.

Funds raised at the festival have contributed to donating over $75,000 in equipment to the fire department along with many other local charities. Examples of the most recent donation include Rescue truck 974, and a few large past donations include the department’s first thermal imaging camera and an ARGO All-Terrain Vehicle all of which have improved the ability for the department to serve and protect when budgets couldn’t provide for these tools.
