Voter ID law seeks to suppress voters

Seven violations in 10 years is not "rampant" voter fraud

August 14, 2014

For the last two weeks there have been letters to the editor regarding the Republican administration in Madison.

The writers used figures to support their respective positions and it is easy to get into a no-win situation.

I want to comment on one of the statements, the voter ID law.

Mr. Reynolds wrote that the voter ID law was passed because of “rampant” violations in three southern counties.

I happen to be opposed to the law and made a phone call to a person who has access to some of the information from the Government Accountability Board.

The number of violations is seven in the past 10 years.

From my perspective the voter ID law was not really passed to deal with rampant violations but to make it more difficult for certain groups to vote.
