Attempted abduction, sexual assault reported near Clintonville

The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a suspect in an attempted abduction near Clintonville.

At about 9:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, an 18-year-old woman was walking east on County Trunk O toward U.S. Highway 45 when a man in an eastbound pickup truck stopped and offered her a ride.

“She was uneasy about the situation but accepted the ride,” according to Detective Capt. Don Conat.

The woman told investigators she became frightened when the man turned his truck around and starting driving westbound on County O.

She said the man pulled his truck over onto the side of the road, began making advances toward her and tearing off some of her clothes.

She kicked and bit the man, then escaped into a cornfield. From there she walked back to the house where she had been earlier that night.

The suspect is described as being in his late 30s to early 40s, balding, and weighing approximately 300 pounds.

Conat said the suspect has a dark-colored mustache and an accent or a speech problem. He also chews tobacco.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as an early 2000s model, four-door pickup truck of an unknown make.

The truck was dark-colored, possibly black or dark blue with a topper that had matching paint. The topper was level with the cab of the truck. A white decal of “Calvin” urinating is on on the rear window of the cab.

The interior of the truck was tan and there was a rosary with a cross hanging from the rearview mirror.

Anyone who may know the suspect or who may have seen the truck on County O between U.S. 45 and Baerenwald Road at approximately 9:30 p.m. Monday is asked to contact the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office at 715-258-4466.
