Kenneth Hal Townsend, Waupaca, WI passed away on August 25, 2014. He was 95 years old.
Ken was born in Waupaca, WI on October 31, 1918. He married his high school sweetheart – Eva Caroline Gudmandson – on November 1, 1941, and together they raised two sons on the family farm in Waupaca. Ken served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946 and was a proud veteran of WWII. Upon returning from serving his country overseas, Ken chose to spend the remainder of his professional life serving his local community by working for Waupaca County as a surveyor.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Eva, and son, Gary. He leaves behind a son, James, four granddaughters, six great-grandchildren, and many dear friends who were family to him. Ken’s family and friends would like to thank the staff at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King for taking such great care of him. Special appreciation also goes to the nurses at Riverside Medical Center for treating Ken with such incredible compassion and dignity as he started his journey to a better place.
Ken’s life will be celebrated in a private family funeral service and military burial. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Ken’s name to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
