Elaine E. Brey, of Wild Rose, age 83, passed away at home on Thursday, August 28, 2014.
She was born on September 1, 1930 to Chester and Gertrude (Bartel) Kempf in the town of Wolf River, Fremont. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in East Bloomfield and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Neenah. Elaine attended Berlin High School. On May 1, 1948 she married Norman Brey. She was employed at Infant Sock and at St. Agnes Hospital as a nursing assistant. Elaine loved gardening, shopping, cooking, and enjoyed her grandchildren.
She is survived by three children: Cynthia Brey O’Neill of Almond, Julie (Cyril Jr.) Schaefer of Mt. Calvary, Tom Brey of Green Bay; five grandchildren: Jennifer (Dan) Krohn, Timothy Schaefer, Ashely (fiancé, Nathan Beyer) Schaefer, Brian Schaefer, Dane Schaefer, two great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Kennedy; sister, Darla (Don) Hoeppner; half-sister, Judy Kempf; stepbrothers, John (Darlene) Laird and Jim (Georgia) Laird. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman in 2004; her parents; son-in-law, John O’Neill and two brothers-in-law, Kermit and Bill Brey.
The Memorial Service will be on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 12 p.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home. Friends and family may gather on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
