Farrell, Raymond R.

Raymond R. Farrell, Waupaca, Wisconsin, age 78, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Appleton Medical Center in Appleton, WI. 

He was born January 10, 1936 in West Allis, WI, son of Robert J. and Kathryn (Studinger) Farrell. Raymond graduated from West Allis Central High School in 1954, and then attended UW-Milwaukee where he graduated with a teaching degree. He served in the U.S. Army from January 29, 1955 until he was honorably discharged on January 14, 1958. On January 25, 1958, he married Susan Turck in West Allis, WI. For several years, Raymond was a social studies teacher at Waupaca High School. He also worked for many years for Xerox as their regional salesperson and worked in the stamp collecting department at Krause Publications. In retirement, Raymond and Sue enjoyed their winters in Clearwater, Florida, where they met a community of “snowbird” friends. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and was active in the Knights of Columbus where he once served as Grand Knight. Raymond also was a member of VFW Post # 1037 where he served in the past as the commander. He had a love of history, was an avid storyteller, and enjoyed researching his family genealogy. Raymond will be deeply missed by all of his loving family and many friends. 

Raymond is survived by: wife, Susan Farrell of Waupaca, WI; children: James (Cindy) Farrell of Marshfield, WI; Michael (Davina) Farrell of San Antonio, TX; Mary (fiancé, John) Farrell-Roloff of Seabrook, TX; Sharon (Ken) Christensen of Waupaca, WI and Kathleen (Sean) Katuin of Waupaca, WI; grandchildren: Jessica, Ryan, Andrew, Lisa (Nick), Adam, Allison, Cal, and Thomas; great-granddaughter, Mia; two brothers, Robert (Susan) Farrell and Dennis (Belle) Farrell; two sisters, Ginny (Ron) Frievalt and Janice (Randy) Woda. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Kathryn Farrell, and an infant daughter, Mary Susan Farrell. 

A Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Waupaca, WI. Father Amalraj Roche will preside. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Cemetery in Waupaca following the Mass on Saturday. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
