George M. Adams, Waupaca, WI, age 98, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Bethany Home in Waupaca.
He was born on December 17, 1915, in Oshkosh, WI, the son of George W. and Dorothea (Peterson) Adams. He grew up in Green Bay and graduated from Green Bay East High School. He married Blanche Viel September 1, 1938 in Green Bay. She preceded him in death September 11, 2003.
George is survived by his children: Anne (Emmett) Keller of Chippewa Falls, Richard (Diane) Adams of Rockton, IL, and Patricia Baas of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren: Sarah (Frank) Keller-Hoefflin, Amy Adams (Jeff Mehne), Daniel (Jennifer) Adams, and Wendy (Michael) Baas-Knowles, and great-grandchildren: Christoph and Annikka Hoefflin, Tyler and Jessica Knowles, and Lucas and Evan Adams. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche; a grandson, Paul Keller; a brother, Jonathan Adams, and two sisters, Majel (James) Donnelly and Marguerite (Ervin) Westfahl.
George was a fireman with the Sheboygan Fire Department for many years. He served in the National Guard and the Civilian Conservation Corps. George was an Eagle Scout and was active in Boy Scouts in Sheboygan and Waupaca. He also taught first-aid courses for the Red Cross for many years. Following his retirement, George and Blanche moved to Farmington Township, Waupaca County, in 1974. They both did volunteer work at the Wisconsin Veterans’ Home at King; he enjoyed repairing wheel chairs there. They attended the United Methodist Church and Shepherd of the Lakes Church.
A memorial service will be held at the Bethany Home Chapel in Waupaca, WI on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Fred Lueders, officiating. Visitation is Tuesday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.. Memorials can be directed in George’s memory to the charity of your choice. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
