Rose challenges recall petition

Alderman Greg Rose has contested the recall petition that was filed to recall him from office.

The collected signatures were delivered to Clintonville City Hall, Friday, Aug. 22. Rose had 10 days to challenge any of the signatures.

Clintonville Clerk Peggy Johnson didn’t give specifics, other than saying Rose contested the recall petition. She said she contacted the Government Accountability Board (GAB) for verification of the next step of the process.

On Monday, Sept. 8, Johnson said the GAB contacted her, and she has sent notification to William VanDaalwyk that Rose is challenging the recall petition. VanDaalwyk originally filed the Statement of Intent to Circulate the Recall Petition.

VanDaalwyk has five days to file a written rebuttal to the challenge. If he does, then Rose will have two days to file a reply to anything raised in the rebuttal. The whole process is not to last longer than 31 days.
