Godfrey, Eloise M.

Eloise Godfrey, Waupaca, Wisconsin  passed away at Park Vista, Waupaca, on Monday, September 22, 2014. 

She was born February 3, 1922 in Rhinelander, WI, the daughter of Reverend Hugh and Selma Misdall. Eloise graduated from Waupaca High School in 1937, attended Lawrence College in Appleton for two years, and then graduated from Oshkosh Business College. She was then employed as the Registrar at Haverford College in Philadelphia, PA. She married Thomas (Tom) Godfrey on his return from World War II in Oshkosh, WI on November 2, 1945. In 1950 they moved back to Waupaca where Tom joined his father’s business. Eloise was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She had a talent for handicrafts including watercolors, basket making, sewing and knitting. She enjoyed golfing, walking the beach, and gathering with friends. 

Eloise is survived by her husband, Tom; and their three children: Brian Godfrey (Sharon), Waupaca, WI; Melinda Jankowski (Michael), Burnsville, MN; Shelley Olinger (Mike), Burnsville, MN. She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Philip Godfrey, Lauren and David Jankowski, Megan Thoe (Erik), and Eric Olinger (Jessica), and a great-grandson, Liam Godfrey. Also surviving is her sister, Margaret Misdall of Oshkosh, WI. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Waupaca, WI. Reverend Barry Shaw will officiate. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial will be established in memory of Eloise. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
