Soup in Art Bowls planned at historic Waupaca train depot

The annual Soup in Art Bowls will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Waupaca Railroad Depot, 525 Oak St.

The event is a fundraiser for the Waupaca Community Arts Center.

The cost is $20 for a bowl, soup, bread and dessert. Beverages will be available at an additional cost.

“People can pick out a bowl, look at the depot and decide what kind of soup they want,” said Dianne Veeser, a member of the center’s board. “Your bowl is your ticket to the event.”

The cost for those who just want soup is $6.50. Paper bowls will be available for children at a cost of $5, when they accompany a paying adult.

There will be squash, chicken noodle, Philly cheesesteak and a surprise soup from Cronie’s Cafe and Espresso Bar. They will begin serving soup at 11 a.m.

Those who want to choose a bowl prior to Oct. 4 may do so by visiting the Waupaca Community Arts Center, at 200 N. Main St.

It is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

“We’re hoping to have 150 bowls painted by resident and local artists,” Veeser said.

The Oct. 4 event will also include a sing-along with Mike Kirk on a player piano. He will also offer tours of the depot.
