Indians take three of four from T-Birds

Weyauwega-Fremont stayed unbeaten in Central Wisconsin 8 Conference volleyball play Sept. 18 with a win over Iola-Scandinavia.

The host Indians dropped the first game to the Thunderbirds 25-22, but came back with 25-19, 25-22 and 25-20 wins.

“The girls started the night off ready to play and focused, but unfortunately were unable to sustain their level play to come out on top,” I-S coach Jessica Wennesberg said. “The blocking of Kaylie Petersen was key to the win in the first set. She led the team with eight solo blocks for the night. However, as the night went on, we struggled answering their strong hits and serves.”

Brianne Huettner had seven digs from the libero position for the T-Birds, while Kaylin Ellioff and Kyle Johnson added seven kills and 13 assists, respectively.

Leaders for the Indians were Jordan Krause and Manni Potratz (22 and 15 assists, respectively); Hailey Krause (six aces); Courtney Gorges and Jordan Krause (14 digs); Karissa Akey (four solo blocks); and Becky Schroeder, Akey and Megan Young (16, 12 and 11 kills).
